Terrazgo is made by a small winery from Arribes D.O. made using autochthonous vairetals. Las Arribes is an spectacular region that follows the river Duero along Spain border with Portugal. The topography of Arribes is higher flatter ground than other wine regions in Spain with sloped terraces facing the rivers Duero and Tormes. Soils are shallow and sandy with high acidity and low organic content with granite and quartz pebbles over a subsoil of crumbly slate and graniz.

Terrazgo Bodegas de Crianza is a small production winery one of the newest wine regions of Spain, started by three college friends. They found this region while doing field practices and working as harvest Inspectors for the las Arribes vitners association prior to being recognized as a Denominacion de Origen. They took the name “Terrazgo” from the term used in the region for the terraces where the vines and olive trees have been cultivated since time immemorial. The winery is a self contained, 1600 square foot granite granary build over 50 years ago. Fermentation is done in small (1000 & 2000 Ltr) stainless steel deposits and neutral oak barrels. Ageing is done in oak barrels.

Winemaking: Alcoholic fermentation 75% in small stainless steel tanks 25% in French oak barrels. Malolactic and ageing in American, French and Hungarian oak.
Aging: 13 months, French, American, and Hungarian small grain oak, medium toast.
Alcohol: 14.5% by vol.
Tasting notes: Bright ruby. Musky, herb-accented cherry and red berry aromas are bright and focused. Juicy and tightly wound, with good cut but a slightly tart edge to its bitter cherry and redcurrant flavors. The nervy finish features lingering spice and rhubarb notes.
Serving: Serve at room temperature (64-68°F)
