Vineyard

Ramazzotti Vineyards founded in 2002, is a small family owned and operated winery located in Sonoma County’s Geyserville, CA. The Ramazzotti’s experience growing grapes and managing vineyard in the Dry Creek and Alexander Valley appellations have resulted in small handcrafted and lot artisan fruit.

Vintage 2011

Dark cherry, blackberry, nutmeg and toast aromas and flavors develop intense complexity. Brilliant acidity melds these complex flavors with tantalizing tannins through the full, rich finish.

“The monster of the midway - big and exciting for its jammy fruit, generous oak and Kaleidoscopic richness. You have been warned.”...Mike Dunne, Sacramento Bee

The 2011 season was fraught with many weather related challenges. Our viticulture team however, was up to the task of carefully managing the vineyard and providing us fruit with excellent ripeness levels. Winter rains were plentiful and lasted well into the late spring and early summer. The summer growing season was unseasonably cool. Harvest was temperate and canopy management was key to achieving optimal ripeness in the grapes. Unwelcome rains came later into harvest – fortunately, much of our fruit was already picked and safely at the winery.

Winemaking

The 2011 ”Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel” presents a moderate alcohol nature of helping to create a smooth tannin structure that lends to a well-balanced palette. The fruit is evident but not overpowering, with layers of black cherry, mixed berries, currants and all spice. This Zinfandel speaks to the old vine Clones of this wine, with earthy mixed berry characters and subtler hints of white and black pepper. The finish lingers on, creating a mouth-watering desire for another sip.

Tasting Notes

This monster of a wine expresses depth, composure and amazing balance. The style compels you senses to explore a wonderfully high meaning of pleasure given form an extraordinary wine. The dark purple hue captivates a curiosity of layered aromas of black cherry, Jamaican pepper, blackberry and cocoa. Flavors burst with complexity of classic Dry Creek flavors of raspberries, boysenberries and plum notes, which holds a wonderful fruit driven finish. The depth of flavors, balanced acidity and round tannins will make this a long again wine.
