2012 Mas Garcia Muret Muriac Syrah Costers del Segre

Origin of the name: Muriac is the name given to bats in the town of Llimiana in the Pallars region of Catalonia. Thanks to these creatures who fly over our Syrah vineyards eating mosquitos, a symbiotic ecosystem is maintained.

Wine making: Grapes are hand harvested in 20 kgs crates. Whole-pressed with stems and then vetted in stainless steel tanks at 25-28 C for 15 days. Later aged for 6 months in French oak. Bottled at the cellar with natural corks.

Tasting notes: Cherry colour with garnet rim. On the nose, ripe fruit aromas with spice, creamy oak toast and mineral complexity. Forward red forest fruits; raspberries and blackberries. Full bodied, bursting with flavour and well balanced in the mouth. Best served at 16C , with its characteristic violet aromas released at around 18C.
